"Universal Emotional Impact: How Music Affects the Body Across Cultures"
Scientists have conducted a study revealing where in the body different types of music are felt, finding that sad songs evoke responses in the heart and pit of the stomach, while aggressive songs are felt in the head. The research, which included participants from both Western and Asian cultures, showed that emotions and bodily sensations evoked by music were similar across different cultures, suggesting that music-induced emotions may be independent of culture and based on inherited biological mechanisms. The findings imply that music may have emerged as a way to promote social interaction and a sense of community by synchronizing the bodies and emotions of listeners.
