Border Disputes: Governors' Standoff with Federal Government
Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee and other state GOP officials are backing Texas Gov. Greg Abbott in his fight with the federal government over the border issue, with Lee stating that Tennessee has always stood with Texas. The Republican Governors Association and Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti also voiced their support for Texas, while several other Republican-controlled states have joined in supporting Abbott's efforts. Tennessee House Republican Caucus Chair Jeremy Faison honored Abbott's decision on the House floor, emphasizing the need to stand with Texas against what he called a "tyrannical federal government."
