Iowa City Elementary Field Trip Ends in Tragedy at Lake Macbride
An adult died and a child remains missing after a field trip incident at Lake Macbride in Iowa. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office recovered the adult’s body on Tuesday afternoon, while search efforts for the missing juvenile were suspended for the night and set to resume Wednesday morning. The Iowa City Community School District confirmed the incident involved a 5th-grade 'School of the Wild' trip from Borlaug Elementary and has canceled all future trips of this type. Counselors are being deployed to support students and staff, and the district canceled its board meeting to address the crisis.
