
Early BRCA2 Gene Mutation Testing: A Life-Changing Decision at 23.
After her mother's breast cancer diagnosis and subsequent scare, the author decided to get tested for the BRCA2 gene mutation at the age of 23. The test results came back negative, providing relief and empowering her to be proactive about her health. While the negative results decrease the overall risk, the author still acknowledges her increased risk due to family history and plans to continue annual screenings and be her own advocate for preventive measures.
