DC's 9th Street Tunnel Reopens After Bus Fire
A Metrobus caught fire in DC's 9th Street Tunnel, producing heavy smoke and causing ceiling tiles and lighting to be damaged. The tunnel partially reopened by Friday evening with two lanes active; the right lane remains closed for lighting repairs as crews install conduit. Full restoration will take time, including tile and lighting work and camera replacements. Thirty-two hybrid buses will be removed from service for inspection. No injuries were reported.
