MBTA Launches Automated Bus Lane Camera Enforcement in October
The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) is activating automated camera enforcement on its buses starting October 1, 2026, to penalize drivers who block bus stops and lanes. The program begins with a three-month warning period, with fines ranging from $25 to $125 for lane violations and $100 for stop violations beginning January 1, 2027. Human reviewers will verify all incidents before issuing tickets to vehicle owners.
