BWI Divert: Passenger Arrested After Assaulting Crew and Using Slurs
A 67-year-old man from Arizona was arrested at Baltimore/Washington International Airport after causing a violent disturbance on an American Airlines flight from Dallas-Fort Worth to Newark. The passenger, identified as Layne Lundeen (also referred to as Arthur Lundeen in some reports), allegedly used racial and homophobic slurs against a flight attendant and assaulted another passenger. Crew members and two other passengers restrained him with duct tape and zip ties before the plane diverted to BWI. Lundeen was charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct, released on his own recognizance, and faces a court appearance on October 19. The FBI is investigating the incident to determine if federal charges are warranted.
