Ex-KLM CEO's Power Bank Fire Forces Atlantic Flight Turnback
A KLM Boeing 777-300ER on the Amsterdam–Curacao route diverted back to Amsterdam after a power bank in a business-class passenger’s bag caught fire; the passenger was reportedly Camiel Eurlings, the airline’s former CEO, who was sleeping at the time. The crew extinguished the fire, the plane landed in Amsterdam about five hours after departure, and passengers were rebooked. KLM said it would not fine the passenger.
