Portland City Council Unanimously Renames Cesar Chavez Boulevard to Campesinos Boulevard
The Portland City Council voted unanimously on September 9, 2026, to rename Cesar Chavez Boulevard to Campesinos Boulevard. The decision follows public scrutiny over sexual abuse allegations against the late labor advocate. The new name, meaning 'farm laborers' in Spanish, aims to honor the broader agricultural workforce rather than a single individual. Implementation timelines for sign changes have not yet been released.
