Canada’s Science Talent Push Attracts Global Researchers to Toronto
Toronto’s University Health Network is expanding its Canada Leads program to recruit 100 early- to mid-career scientists from around the world, backed by federal funding aimed at boosting Canada’s leadership in life sciences. About 80 researchers have joined so far, with hundreds more expressing interest, including Dr. Ariel Levine from the U.S. NINDS who will study spinal cord injury. The initiative follows U.S. funding cuts and positions Canada as a magnet for global scientific talent, supported by Canada Global Impact + Research Talent Initiative funding of about $1.7 billion over 12 years.
