Tedde Moore, Miss Shields in A Christmas Story, Dies at 79
Tedde Moore, the Canadian actress who played Miss Shields, Ralphie’s strict but caring teacher in A Christmas Story and who later reprised the role in My Summer Story, died August 5 at 79 in Huntsville, Ontario. Born Dorothea Mavor Moore in Toronto and a Royal Academy of Dramatic Art alum, she enjoyed a long stage and screen career, taught acting, and was married to director Donald Shebib; she’s survived by two children, Suzanna and Noah Shebib, plus a foster daughter. The film A Christmas Story was inducted into the National Film Registry in 2012.
