World Bank Chief Banga's Bold Plans to Bridge Global Divides and Boost Lending Capacity
World Bank President Ajay Banga has announced new plans to increase the bank's lending capacity and address challenges such as climate change. These proposals, which are still being discussed with shareholder countries, aim to stretch the bank's balance sheet and generate tens of billions of additional lending. The plans include allowing shareholders to guarantee loans, issuing a new hybrid capital instrument, expanding conditions for callable capital, and expanding very low or zero-interest lending.
