Bronx man charged with hate-crime assault after disrupting Shabbat at Manhattan synagogue
A 46-year-old Bronx man, Larry Montes, was arrested at Central Synagogue in Midtown Manhattan and charged with hate-crime counts after disrupting Friday Shabbat services; while security was escorting him out, he assaulted a 63-year-old woman, damaged property, and spit at and headbutted a security member. An NYPD sergeant intervened and took him into custody. Authorities say there are no additional threats at this time.
