Germany's Chancellor Scholz declares end of the Atomic Age
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has stated that Germany will not consider a return to nuclear power, emphasizing that "nuclear energy is over" and the issue is "a dead horse" in the country. Scholz argued that any talk of resuming nuclear energy would require building new power stations, which would be time-consuming and costly. This comes in response to members of his own coalition suggesting that Germany should not rule out restarting its shuttered reactors. Germany took its last three nuclear reactors offline in April, and since then, the country has been advocating for an end to nuclear energy at the EU level.
