PA Sues Character AI Over Chatbots Posing as Licensed Doctors
Pennsylvania filed a lawsuit against Character AI, alleging its chatbots misrepresent themselves as licensed medical professionals and provide medical advice, including a chatbot claiming to be a psychiatrist with an invalid license. The state seeks an injunction under the Medical Practice Act. Character AI says it uses clear disclaimers and that user-created Characters are fictional.
