Resident Evil 4's DLC and Updates: Microtransactions, Cheats, and Improvements.

Capcom has added microtransaction power-ups to the recently released Resident Evil 4 remake, allowing players to purchase "Resident Evil 4 Weapon Exclusive Upgrade Tickets" for up to $9.99. These tickets can be used to unlock weapon upgrades without having to grind for in-game currency or level up weapons through gameplay. While this kind of paid upgrade is not new to the gaming world, it has gamers longing for the days when cheat codes were free. Publishers should consider these fun, sandbox-style features a core part of the experience, not something to monetize through nickel-and-dime DLC.
