A meta-analysis of non-targeted analysis (NTA) studies conducted over the past six years estimates that less than 2% of all chemicals have been identified, highlighting the need for a more proactive approach to chemical monitoring and management. Current monitoring programs target only a fraction of known chemicals, leaving a vast number of chemicals unknown. The study also identified areas for improvement in NTA methods, including sample preparation and data acquisition.
