Painless ink on demand: CipherX’s Microdot patches tattoo the skin
CipherX unveiled disposable Microdot patches that deposit pigment into the skin using microscopic needles, offering a quiet, pain-free alternative to traditional tattooing. A Verge tester had a small Bold Sparkle design applied in seconds with 112 microneedles, and there was no bleeding or healing time, though the tattoo appears as a field of dots that darken over about two days. Designs are currently limited (around 15 options, up to 15 mm, black ink), but future colors, larger sizes, and DIY home kits are in development, with patches and kits expected to ship to customers later; price at pop-ups in London is around £50.
