Lebo M Targets Viral Lion King Lyric Claim in $27 Million Lawsuit
Grammy-winning composer Lebohang Morake, known as Lebo M, is suing comedian Learnmore Jonasi in a California federal case for about $27 million over a viral claim that a line from The Lion King’s Circle of Life translates literally to a descriptive sentence. Morake says the isiZulu/isiXhosa chant is royal praise and not a simple description, and argues Jonasi acted with malice and monetized the joke.
