Tina Peters Rejects Shasta County Election Role Amid Statewide Backlash
Tina Peters, a former Colorado elections clerk convicted of tampering with voting machines, has declined a consultant position offered by Shasta County, California. The offer by registrar Clint Curtis sparked intense opposition from Governor Gavin Newsom, who directed state corrections officials to block Peters' parole transfer into California. Peters' attorney cited her national campaign schedule as the reason for the refusal, while Curtis claimed she was too busy with other election work. The controversy highlights ongoing tensions between election denialists and state authorities over the integrity of the 2026 electoral process.
