Tesla Begins Semi Volume Production as Diesel Prices Hit Record Highs
Tesla has commenced volume production of its Semi electric truck at its new facility in Sparks, Nevada, with initial deliveries starting this week. The launch coincides with record-high diesel prices, averaging over $6.50 per gallon in the U.S., which improves the economic case for electric fleets. Tesla plans to expand its Megacharger network to 30 locations by year-end and aims for annual production of 50,000 units. Early orders, including 2,500 units from the ZET SCALE coalition and 500 from Einride, indicate strong demand despite the vehicle's long development timeline.
