Shreveport domestic-tragedy: eight killed as husband opens fire amid divorce tensions
A 31-year-old man, Shamar Elkins, opened fire in Shreveport, Louisiana, killing seven of his children and a cousin and injuring his wife and another woman in what police call a violent domestic incident. After fleeing, he carjacked a man and led officers on a chase into Bossier Parish; it’s unclear whether he died in a confrontation or took his own life. The victims ranged from ages 3 to 11, and seven of the eight were his children, with the attack linked to ongoing divorce tensions.
