RGIII Claims Baylor Coaching Job, Cites 'Winning Culture' Over External Candidates
Robert Griffin III has publicly declared his interest in becoming the next head football coach at Baylor University following the firing of Dave Aranda. Griffin, the program's only Heisman Trophy winner, stated on The Dan Patrick Show that he would '100%' accept the role, arguing that Baylor needs a leader who understands the specific culture of winning at the university. While Griffin has no prior coaching experience, he has already spoken with Athletic Director Doug McNamee. The Bears are currently 4-3 after back-to-back losses to TCU and Kansas, and defensive coordinator Joe Klanderman has been named interim head coach. Griffin also suggested other candidates, including Boise State's Spencer Danielson and UTSA's Jeff Traylor, while noting USC's Lincoln Riley as a 'dark horse' option.
