Tellus Science Museum in Georgia unveils the first fully accurate life-size mount of Deinosuchus schwimmeri, a 31-foot Late Cretaceous crocodile long suspected to prey on dinosaurs, built from fossil evidence and high-resolution 3D scans after decades of Dr. David Schwimmer’s research; the exhibit educates visitors and aids paleontologists in understanding the predator's anatomy and ecosystem.
Bryce Canyon National Park and the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument in Utah were once home to massive predators like the Deinosuchus, a monster crocodile that could best a three-ton dinosaur. Thanks to the work of paleontologists like Dr. Jeffrey Eaton, over 170 fossil sites have been discovered in the park, including fossils of fish, sharks, frogs, turtles, crocodilians, various mammals, and even some dinosaurs. Last season, several beautifully preserved fossil sites were discovered, including the first instance of dinosaur footprints ever recorded at Bryce Canyon. This season, archaeologists plan to make digital images of the dinosaur tracks and develop plans to safeguard the park's fossils.
