General Motors has confirmed the specifications for its new 8.3-liter Duramax turbo-diesel V8, which will power the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD. The engine produces 1,230 lb-ft of torque, directly challenging Ford's 6.7-liter Power Stroke. This addition completes a four-engine lineup for GM's 2027 pickups, which also includes two new naturally aspirated V8s and an upgraded turbocharged four-cylinder.

Toyota is replacing the gasoline V6 in the 2027 Land Cruiser 300 with a high-output hybrid system in Japan, debuting on September 16. The new i-Force Max setup produces 457 hp and 790 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful Land Cruiser ever. While the hybrid adds weight and reduces fuel capacity, it retains a 700 mm wading depth. A new entry-level diesel trim will also be introduced to lower the price point.
