Memoir surfaces after Cambridge sociologist's death amid plagiarism questions
Arday, a Black sociologist whose work focused on increasing minority participation in higher education at Cambridge, faced plagiarism allegations raised by a critic of diversity programs. Cambridge publicly backed him at first, but on Aug. 5 opened an investigation after new information about his qualifications and honorary appointments emerged. He died nine days later, and weeks after his death his memoir was published; his family asked reporters to respect their privacy and said the book would speak for itself.
