Qatar's Secret Talks with US and Iran: Nuclear, Drones, and Prisoner Swaps
Qatar has held separate bilateral meetings with the United States and Iran, discussing Iran's nuclear program and U.S. concerns about Iranian drone transfers to Russia. The meetings, which took place on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly in New York, aimed to lay the groundwork for future indirect discussions and reach an "understanding" on the nuclear issue. The Biden administration's efforts to revive the Iran nuclear deal have failed, and while U.S. officials have not outright denied the possibility of indirect talks, they have suggested that Washington is not currently engaged in such diplomacy.
