The FDA approved bemotrizinol — the first new sunscreen ingredient in more than 25 years — after long regulatory delays; it provides broad UVA/UVB protection with less whitening and greater stability, will launch in the US as Parsol Shield by DSM and become available to other manufacturers after an 18-month exclusivity period.
