Stocks Set for Volatile Trading Day as Earnings Season Heats Up
Stock futures were mostly flat in overnight trading as Wall Street prepared for a busy day of earnings reports. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500, and Nasdaq-100 futures all saw slight declines. The previous session saw the Dow rise for a sixth consecutive day, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite also posted gains. Traders are awaiting earnings results from several major companies, including Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, and Lockheed Martin. Retail sales data for June will also be released, which will provide insight into consumer spending and inflation. FB Financial shares rose 14% after beating earnings expectations, while Berkshire Hathaway reduced its stake in Activision Blizzard ahead of Microsoft's acquisition.
