Unpopped ears on a flight trigger rare cancer diagnosis for California mom
A Hemet, California woman, 22-year-old Aida Burkins, began with ears that wouldn’t pop on a flight to Chicago, but months of medical visits and bleeding led to a nasopharyngeal carcinoma diagnosis. After chemotherapy and radiation, the tumor has shrunk and doctors are hopeful she’ll be cancer-free, underscoring that cancer can affect people of any age.
