The goal is to help countries better absorb migrants fleeing poverty, political instability, and natural disasters. Republicans criticize Biden's border policies, while Democratic mayors urge the administration to allow migrants to work legally. The Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity, created in 2022, includes Barbados, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and Uruguay. The meeting aimed to reward countries that have already taken in migrants and help them do more.
