Dunbar snatches stage win as Mas preserves Vuelta lead with two stages left
Eddie Dunbar surged past Santiago Buitrago in the final 300 meters to win stage 19 of the Vuelta a España, a 210.8km hilly ride from Velez-Málaga to Penas Blancas, after a four-man break. Buitrago attacked with 2km to go, but Dunbar countered for a 14-second victory with Thomas Gloag taking third. Roglic trimmed Mas’s GC lead by 33 seconds in the time trial days earlier, yet Mas still holds a 1:37 cushion into Saturday’s 186.8km mountain stage to Collado del Alguacil. Oscar Onley remained fifth and kept the white jersey for best young rider. Mas, 31, seeks his first Grand Tour title as the race heads to Sunday’s 112km Granada finale.
