Phillies stun Angels with Sosa’s ninth-inning slam after Meckler’s Robbery

The Angels blew a 3-1 lead in the ninth inning as Wade Meckler robbed Bryson Stott of a potential go-ahead homer, but a bases-loaded walk and a 404-foot go-ahead grand slam by Edmundo Sosa gave Philadelphia a 5-3 win. The loss ties the MLB record for most ninth-inning leads blown (11) going back to 1900, a mark also shared by the 2012 Brewers and 1978 Mets. The Phillies, in the wild-card race, gained ground, while the Angels’ late-game collapse continued their troubling pattern this season.

Phillies secure victory against Rockies with clutch hits and team effort.

The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Colorado Rockies 4-3 in a hard-fought, come-from-behind win at Citizens Bank Park. Kyle Schwarber's line-drive homer in the seventh tied the score, and Edmundo Sosa's two-out single drove J.T. Realmuto home from third in the bottom of the eighth, finally settling the issue. Aaron Nola became the fourth straight Phillies start to give up a first-inning homer, but he strung together six consecutive shutout innings, allowing just one more hit. The Phillies snapped a 17-inning scoreless streak when they scored twice in the fourth.
