Longevity Molecules May Fuel Cancer, Study Finds
Polyamines—molecules linked to longevity via autophagy and eIF5A1—also promote cancer by increasing eIF5A2 and certain ribosomal proteins, boosting glycolysis and tumor growth. The findings show these compounds have opposite effects in normal versus cancerous cells and point to targeting eIF5A2 as a potential cancer therapy while preserving any anti-aging benefits.
