Renowned Composer Ryuichi Sakamoto Passes Away at 71.

Ryuichi Sakamoto, a pioneering composer and producer who helped shape electronic pop music, has died at the age of 71 after a multi-year battle with cancer. Sakamoto was a member of the influential band Yellow Magic Orchestra and a prolific film composer, winning an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and a Grammy for his work. He collaborated with a wide range of artists and continued to make music until the end of his life. Sakamoto was also an activist against nuclear power and publicly announced his cancer diagnosis in January 2021.
