Epic 9 Sets Sights on XC's Lightest Full-Suspension Frame
Specialized says the Epic 9 is the lightest full-suspension XC race frame at about 1,589g for a medium, with a 110g lighter front triangle and no internal frame storage. It features an 11% reduction in suspension friction thanks to a new top-tube mounted link driving the shock, 120mm travel, and a three-position damper, while geometry remains largely unchanged from the Epic 8. The bike aims for peak efficiency across kinematics, damping and chassis, with top builds around 8.66kg claimed; pricing isn’t disclosed and there’s no XS size option.
