In a pioneering ExIT procedure, surgeons partially delivered a 25‑week fetus with CHAOS to insert a catheter that drained lung fluid, then returned the upper body to the womb; the baby, Cassian, was later born around 31 weeks and, while still on a ventilator, is doing well with plans for future airway surgery.
