Taiho and Cullinan reported that adding zipalertinib to platinum-based chemotherapy significantly extended progression-free survival versus chemotherapy alone in untreated NSCLC with EGFR exon 20 insertion, meeting the primary endpoint and prompting unblinding. The partners plan to pursue FDA first-line approval, complementing an FDA-accepted path for second-line use. If approved, zipalertinib would join a competitive landscape featuring J&J’s Rybrevant and AstraZeneca’s Zegfrovy in the EGFR exon 20 NSCLC niche.
