Five people were killed and a 13-year-old girl was injured in a shooting spree across two Missaukee County homes in rural northern Michigan. The suspected gunman, Chad Hickman, 39, fled but was later found dead with a 29-year-old woman in the woods near Whitlock Lake after authorities located his vehicle near Caldwell Township; the case remains under investigation for motive.
A charter bus operated by E&P Travel traveling from New York to North Carolina struck six vehicles during a work-zone slowdown on southbound I-95 in Stafford County, Virginia, killing five people in other vehicles and injuring about three dozen of the roughly 34 people aboard.
