Navy removes Blue Angels pilot Scott Laux for failing standards
Maj. Scott Laux, a second-year member of the US Navy Blue Angels, was removed from the elite flight demonstration squadron on November 3, 2026. The Chief of Naval Air Training (CNATRA) confirmed his dismissal, stating he failed to uphold the standards expected of team members. Laux, identified as Blue Angel No. 6, did not participate in the squadron’s final homecoming air show in Pensacola, Florida, which featured five jets instead of the usual six. The Navy has not disclosed the specific reasons for his removal or the exact timeline of the decision, though his biography was scrubbed from the team’s official website. The dismissal follows a controversial low-altitude flyover over Pensacola Beach in July, which Laux had publicly defended.
