Langley Debuts NASA's First New Wind Tunnel in Four Decades
NASA Langley’s new Flight Dynamics Research Facility opens as the agency’s first updated wind tunnel in 40 years. The $53 million, 25,000-square-foot facility, built by BL Harbert International, will undergo data collection and certification before testing begins; initial flight tests will focus on the X-66 Transonic Truss-Braced Wing, with Langley incorporating components from the center’s historic wind tunnels and supporting Artemis-era programs, including Orion/SLS testing.
