PowerA and Meridian GMT revealed Project X-Ray, a wireless Xbox flight-sim controller with a removable faceplate and aircraft/helicopter controls, including flaps/engine levers, trim, landing gear, and a dedicated autopilot control replacing the D-pad; no release date yet, but pricing is expected near $150 for the Echo Aviation Controller PC/Mac version.
Laminar Research announced a new store to be integrated into X-Plane 12, offering customers a modern shopping experience within the simulator and on a website, with seamless installation and DRM options for developers. The store will feature product pages with descriptions, screenshots, and reviews, and will be tied to a new 'Laminar Identity' for personal logins and easy access to purchased products. Scheduled for release later in 2024, the store aims to streamline the purchasing and installation process for X-Plane users and developers.
PMDG is nearing the release of its Universal Flight Tablet, a long-awaited onboard tablet device for its fleet of 737 aircraft. The tablet will feature flight plan and SimBrief integration, Navigaph charts, and performance computation. It will also allow data entry via attached or on-screen keyboard, offer metric/imperial unit selection, and have day/night settings. PMDG plans to expand the tablet's functionality in the future and potentially make it compatible with other aircraft models. The release is expected around October 30th, 2023, with updates to follow.
FSimStudios announced the upcoming release of their Calgary scenery for MSFS, with a P3D version in the works. They also revealed their partnership with Texan Simulations for the release of Houston Hobby scenery. FSimStudios' next project is Winnipeg for MSFS, set to release in early summer. The team is also conducting research for future sceneries and plans to create second versions of their Vancouver and Halifax sceneries. Gabriel has joined the team as a full-time developer.
