Doom Finds a Home on Casio Loopy with FloopyDrive Help
Hackaday highlights a fan-made port of Doom to Casio’s oddball 1990s handheld, spearheaded by Throaty Mumbo. The Casio Loopy’s SH-1 CPU (16 MHz), 1 MB RAM, and just 2 MB ROM space make room for only a limited number of WADs, but a FloopyDrive cartridge expansion and a GitHub-hosted build bring a Doom experience to the tiny device. Performance is modest with a low resolution, and the port even demonstrates the console’s built-in printer. The project targets a tiny community of Loopy owners—roughly two dozen people.
