NYPD Goes Green with Electric Patrol Cars.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) has introduced a fleet of 100 fully electric Ford Mustang Mach-E GTs, with two dozen already on patrol in the city. The new cars are part of Mayor Eric Adams' plan to reduce harmful emissions across the municipal fleet. The Mustangs are the fastest vehicles in the NYPD's arsenal, with a range of 270 miles on a fully charged battery. The low center of gravity reduces the chance of roll-overs and allows for upgraded maneuvering, with heavy-duty brakes. The city is working on adding charging stations throughout the Big Apple.
