Desert urban drill tests drones, AI and robotics in Army's Project Convergence
At Fort Irwin's Project Convergence Capstone, roughly 10,000 soldiers simulated a city battle in Razish, using drones for reconnaissance and an AI-enabled battlefield network (NGC2) to track forces and guide fires, while testing a NOMAD ground robot; the exercise showed both strong potential for tech, and real-world limits like connectivity issues and the risk of information overload that can hinder training.
