Gaza-bound flotilla delays mission to spring 2027 after mechanical failures and migrant deaths
The Freedom Flotilla Coalition has postponed its planned voyage to the Gaza Strip until spring 2027, citing mechanical failures and the discovery of migrant bodies at sea. The decision follows a European port tour aimed at mobilizing support against Israel's naval blockade. Organizers stated that technical repairs and distressing encounters with deceased migrants significantly narrowed the time available to complete the journey this year. While the sea mission is delayed, the coalition plans to continue land-based campaigns and interfaith conferences. Separately, Italian prosecutors are investigating senior Israeli officials for alleged torture and kidnapping related to previous flotilla interceptions.
