The Baltimore Ravens are in a center crisis after losing three starters to injury, forcing right guard Vega Ioane into an emergency role. Analysts suggest trading for Bears center Garrett Bradbury, while Lamar Jackson continues to perform at an MVP level despite offensive line and receiver shortages.
Bears coach Ben Johnson shared five key takeaways from the NFL owners meetings: he wants to get explosive rookie Luther Burden III more touches this season; Garrett Bradbury will fit in at center as the replacement for Drew Dalman; Coby Bryant could be a tone-setter on defense; Braxton Jones has bulked up and aims to regain his pre-injury form; and Kalif Raymond was added to boost the receiver/return game and leadership in the locker room.
Bears GM Ryan Poles outlined six key offseason moves and themes aimed at making the team faster and more explosive on both sides of the ball: trading for center Garrett Bradbury to solidify the o-line, adding linebacker Devin Bush and safety Coby Bryant to upgrade the defense, and bringing in Neville Gallimore, Cam Lewis, Kalif Raymond, Kentavius Street, and Jedrick Wills Jr. to boost speed, leadership and competition. He also acknowledged the tough loss of DJ Moore, and emphasized ongoing competition at left tackle as Jedrick Wills Jr. works to earn the job. Overall, the Bears want faster, more physical play and a championship-caliber roster heading into 2026.
The Bears’ acquisition of center Garrett Bradbury from New England signals a major push to extend right tackle Darnell Wright. With cap space boosted by recent moves (Edmunds release, Moore trade, Dalman retirement) to about $33 million and Bradbury costing around $4.7 million next season (leaving roughly $29 million), Chicago is positioned to pursue a four-year, roughly $92 million deal for Wright (about $22–24 million per year). Wright has been a durable, cornerstone player and earned Second-Team All-Pro in 2025, making an extended deal a logical next step for the Bears’ offensive-line plans.
The New England Patriots traded center Garrett Bradbury to the Chicago Bears for a 2027 fifth‑round pick, with Bradbury having started all 17 regular-season games and all four postseason games for NE last season, but the Pats choosing cap relief this year. Chicago needed a center after Drew Dalman’s retirement, and Jared Wilson could become New England’s starting center in 2026 after starting 13 games at guard as a rookie. The trade becomes official at the start of the league year.
The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to a three-year contract worth up to $15.75 million with center Garrett Bradbury, who has been a starter for the team since being drafted in the first round in 2019. The Vikings also restructured quarterback Kirk Cousins' contract to save $16 million and are finalizing a two-year deal with former Cardinals cornerback Byron Murphy. Bradbury's play has been polarizing among fans, but the team values his familiarity with the system and his desire to stay in Minnesota.
