Mateo is a character introduced in Pokémon Go's Timeless Travel season, allowing players to exchange gifts with others from distant locales. To find and exchange a gift with Mateo, players must walk to the end of a Route and interact with the final PokéStop. The mechanics of the gift exchange are similar to Wonder Trade in the main games. Mateo may not appear for all players, possibly due to specific spawning times or the need to complete multiple routes. Closing and reopening the app within the PokéStop radius may help force Mateo to spawn.
