Central Banks and Powell's Testimony Impact Dow and Markets.
Stock futures and global indexes fell as a flurry of central-bank meetings followed Wednesday’s hawkish comments from Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell. The British pound swung between gains and losses after the Bank of England made a larger-than-expected half-point interest rate increase. Norway’s krone rose against the dollar after the nation’s central bank raised rates by more than expected and suggested further increases were to come. The Swiss franc briefly set a seven-week low against the euro after the Swiss National Bank raised its rates. Bitcoin rose a further 0.6% from Wednesday's 5 p.m. ET level, to around $30,120.
