Gold Medal Flour recalled due to salmonella outbreak.

General Mills has issued a nationwide recall of its Gold Medal Flour after testing revealed the presence of salmonella infantis. The recall includes 2-, 5- and 10-pound bags of Gold Medal Unbleached and Bleached All Purpose Flour with a “better if used by date” of March 27, 2024, or March 28, 2024. Customers are advised to dispose of the product immediately and contact General Mills for a replacement.

The CDC has identified Gold Medal flour as the source of a salmonella outbreak that has infected at least 13 people in 12 states. General Mills has recalled 2-, 5- and 10-pound bags of bleached and unbleached all-purpose Gold Medal flour. Of eight people interviewed by health officials, seven reported eating raw dough or batter. The CDC advises baking or cooking any foods made with any brand of raw flour before eating and washing hands, bowls, utensils and surfaces after using raw flour.

"Gold Medal Flour recalled by General Mills over salmonella contamination"

Four types of Gold Medal all-purpose flour have been recalled due to possible salmonella contamination. The affected products included two date codes of Gold Medal Unbleached All Purpose Flour in 5- and 10-pound bags, as well as two date codes of Gold Medal Bleached All Purpose Flour in the 2- and 5-pound bags. Customers are urged to check their pantries at home and discard any of the affected products. The FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned consumers to refrain from consuming any uncooked products made with Gold Medal flour.

General Mills Recalls Gold Medal Flour Over Salmonella Concerns

General Mills has issued a voluntary recall for 2, 5 and 10-pound bags of Gold Medal unbleached and bleached all purpose flour with "better if used by" dates of March 27, 2024, and March 28, 2024, due to the potential presence of salmonella. The recall was issued after salmonella infantis was discovered in a five-pound bag of flour during testing. Salmonella infantis infection can cause nausea, diarrhea, fever and abdominal pains. Other types of Gold Medal flour are not impacted by the recall.
